Happy new year! One of my aspirations for 2012 is to write more often. So here I am. I am trying to start this year by putting a few words on the page, even though I am--right this minute--out of time. This week between Christmas and New Years, I had imagined as a long stretch of free time. Time to meditate, reflect and prepare for a fresh start in 2012. But as usual, those stretches of uninterrupted time have been elusive. Somehow, cooking, cleaning, hanging out with the family, walking the dog, and all the other regular stuff of life filled up my days.
The lesson, of course, is that if I wait until I have time, I will never, ever do anything. So, I promise to show up more this year, even when I don't have time. I promise to think about my priorities, and figure out where I am wasting the precious moments I could be using to write and meditate. (Internet surfing, I'm looking at you.) For now, I'm going to go watch a movie with the husband. But I'll be back soon to tell you more about my high hopes for 2012. And everything else too.
